I am delighted to announce that Wedding Photography Marketing has launched! A big thanks to Mike at 939 Design for doing a great job.

Background
So, what an earth is Wedding Photography Marketing all about? Well, I went to a Wedding Photography course in October, which had half a day of business-related matters in the agenda. To say I was underwhelmed would be an understatement. They really should stick to the stuff they know best, like taking great photos. That was the first catalyst to my idea.

The second catalyst was talking with the other people on the course. I suddenly realised that I was in a unique position, having been in the business of marketing for 9+ years, and a photographer, I thought I could provide a unique service. Having spoken to a couple of the guys on the course, they were very complimentary about information they learned from our evening conversations. In fact they did say that they had learned more from me in the evenings than on the “business” part of the course.

Action
The day after getting back from the course, I registered www.weddingphotographymarketing.com and started thinking about the services I could offer. Mike did a great job translating my thoughts into the design and the site went live a few days ago.

Concept
There are many Wedding Photographers who can take great pictures, but a large proportion of these are not Marketeers and therefore are underselling their services and creativity. A few questions I would pose to these people are:

  1. What is your brand?
  2. Why should people choose you?
  3. Are you looking after every potential “touch point” of your brand
  4. Are you embracing and leveraging the web enough?

These are just for starters. I will be helping existing, established Wedding Photographers and also people starting out in the business. I am really looking forward to working with people - I am certain I can make a difference and help them get more business.
