Mobile Phone Research

May 28, 2007 · Filed Under Life in general

This is a fascinating (short) article on mobile phone research on the BBC website. It is about a chap who is employed by Nokia, who’s job it is, to travel around the world and report back on how people are interacting with their mobiles and how they use them. He is looking at user habits, where they use them, what they decorate them with, in fact most things!

I have currently been given a Blackberry (read Crackberry) 8800 from work and am VERY impressed. However, it does leave me with a dilemma which I mentioned a few days ago, which is information overload. My personal phone is a SE K800i, also very good, especially the camera (3.2mp). I am ALMOST tempted to can the personal one, but it does not make sense – don’t mix your private life with your work ;-) As my Father once said when I was a lot younger, “do not, under any circumstances, sh*t on your own doorstep”. Good advice.

So, the 8800 is excellent, the K800i pretty good, so all that leaves is the 5 month wait until the iPhone arrives! I am looking forward to all the coverage in 3 weeks time when it is launched stateside and we can get some first hand user reaction. The UI looks amazing, I just hope the surfing speeds are ok…
