Latest desk shot

Latest desk shot, originally uploaded by JonnyMoss.

Morning all,

Busy day ahead, hope you’re all looking forward to the weekend. I’ve just been playing with iMovie 08 and yes, I still hate it. The most awful UI – thank goodness I still have iMovie 06!

Are their any Final Cut Express experts reading? I really want to start using it, but am a little intimidated! Any good sites for tips etc?

Re. Final Cut, there are some pretty decent video ‘casts out there that I learned a lot from.

    Hi Mark,

Thanks for the tip! I will have a look this weekend. Do you use it regularly or more iMovie? Would love to see some of the projects you’ve created!

    Best wishes,

    Jon

You are right brother, iMovie08 really is terrible. Here is a tip. lynda.com has Final Cut Express tutorial movies and just about every other subject known to man. $25 a month. I subscribed and that’s how I’m learning FCE.

I really hope they scrap it Steve and update iMovie 06!!!! BIG thanks for the tip!

To answer your question, I set up Google alerts for the phrase “final cut express” among others and I get emailed from Google once a day. Your blog just happened to be one of the links that I was emailed.

Aha! Thanks Steve – alerts are very useful, I use them for a fair few things and phrases too.

I hear a lot of people saying they prefer iMovie 06 over 08. I had 05 (or was it 06?) on my Mac Mini for 2.5yrs and I don’t think I touched it once so can’t really compare it to 08. Wouldn’t mind something a bit more advanced.

Oh, and nice setup by the way :)

Sam, if you used 06, you would not use 08 again! It is very under-featured, especially with sound editing. I find it so annoying to use, and just not intuitive.

Set up is pretty good apart from the non-matching screens! ;-)
