Google adds IMAP support to Gmail

Great news today from Google, they are now supporting IMAP in Gmail! They announce it on their Gmail Blog here and it’s also mentioned here on Wired as well as many other places.
This basically means that when you read / delete / change something on one device, it changes it automatically on another, so keeping everything in Sync. So good news!
I am just trying to get my head around what to do when Leopard and the iPhone arrive. At the moment I am using Gmail (through the desktop client, Mailplane) for all my mail accounts, and rarely fire up mail.app. I love the way that I can handle everything through Gmail and use tags + plus the rules and filters. I know that you can do with this mail.app too, but it just seems so much slicker with Gmail.
However with the new mail.app features in Leopard, and with the arrival of the iPhone, I may give it another try. As far as I know I can add two accounts to the iPhone so I could even have my .mac address and all my Gmail addresses. We will have to wait and see! What do you use for your email? And are there any killer features that you use and love?

Still not activated in either of my GMail accounts.
I just tend to use the web client because I like to be able to work with tags and filters and what not. IMAP will be great for when I am using other devices though.
Still waiting for activation over here too.
Agreed - perfect with the iPhone! Still waiting for imap too … reminds me to check now!
