Cyber bullying in the extreme and a permanent record

April 15, 2008 · Filed Under Internet

Andy Beal over at Marketing Pilgrim drew my attention to this awful story, where a group of girls beat up another girl, filming the whole ordeal to post on YouTube. Andy has written a great book called Radically Transparent (sitting in my towering book pile at the moment), which outlines the almost permanent nature of the web. These girls (animals) will be remembered for committing this horrible crime for a long, long time through blog posts, news reports and forums across the web.

Cara Murphy, 16; Britney Mayes, 17; Kayla Hassell, 15; Zachary Ashley, 17; Brittini Hardcastle, 17; Mercades Nichols, 17; April Cooper, 14; and Stephen Schumaker, 18

Here is my addition to that – people need to realise that behaviour like this is not fun, amusing, or worthy of videoing for online video sites, it is plain shocking, not to be tolerated and can ruin people’s lives.
