Morning all,

I love getting up early, you have so much more time in the day, can crack on with stuff straight away and you get a great sense of achievement when you reach 10am or so and have managed to do a lot already! I wanted to remind all the Hull people that we have the next Hull Open Coffee meeting tomorrow at 1pm at Starbucks, Hull city centre - click here for more details on upcoming. It would be great to see a few people and I am sure there will be lot’s to discuss with the iPhone coming, rumours of Microsoft buying a slice of Facebook and some great new web stuff like an app for Google analytics (I’m going to look at this in more detail soon), and Radioshift (review soon too).

If you need to ring me, my mobile is 07841 285 185. Look forward to seeing you!

Hull Open Coffee

September 13, 2007 · Filed Under OpenCoffee · Comments

Last month we had the first Hull Open Coffee event, which was great fun and very useful, even with a relatively small crowd. The next event was scheduled for the 22nd of September but I totally forgot that I already have some stuff happening that day. Doh! So, I have updated the upcoming page and have changed the date to Saturday 29th September at 1pm at Starbucks in the centre of Hull (map below).

Please do contact me if you have any thoughts about the date / timing / location as I am happy to try and accommodate people.

Open Coffee Hull and Google Maps

August 22, 2007 · Filed Under OpenCoffee, Tech · Comments

Yesterday was the first Open Coffee meeting in Hull. For those of you who don’t know what Open Coffee is, have a look here. A big thanks to the people who came along, especially Rossman, who traveled a fair distance to be there. Thanks! It was a good opportunity to get together with some like-minded people and talk about some web/tech/language stuff.

For next month’s meeting I will try and publicise it better - I hope to get in touch with some of the area’s web design agencies and see if people would like to come along - the more the merrier! I will post up the next meeting details on Upcoming shortly.

We met at Starbucks on St Andrew’s Quay yesterday, but am open for other venues - any suggestions welcome. It will probably be the same place again, so with this in mind, I can test out the new embedding of Google Maps. A very welcome addition to the Google arsenal - more details here.

Events for anyone who like the web!

OpenCoffee is a group of events, for entrepeneurs, web folk, designers and also investors, which have spread around the world in locations from Leeds to New York. Well now, it’s time for Hull! I am certain there are people in the surrounding area who are just as passionate about using the web as myself, whether for their personal use, or in business, maybe their own business! These events are great for

  • meeting people with common interests
  • networking
  • hearing about what other people are doing
  • demoing some latest web technologies
  • chance to relax and talk about some fun stuff

So, if you live near Hull, it means that this monthly event could be for you! I have posted the details here on upcoming, so do have a look and indicate whether you are attending or just watching at the moment. if we can get a few regulars coming, I will try and organise some short presentations from people on a variety of topics, or if people fancy talking themselves, then let me know.

Hull is not exactly rivaling Silicon Valley or London in terms of start up Web 2.0 companies, but it would be great to build a community of like-minded people, so please, do come along!
