Are you happy with Google Streetview?

Streetview car in Broughton, originally uploaded by cellanr.

It’s an interesting dilemma, and one being talked about a lot today, and even made the BBC Six O’clock news.

Google Streetview – is it intrusive?

Personally, yes, I think it is. Am I really bothered and will I be getting Google to remove images of my house? No. What amazes me is that the people in Broughton who blocked the Streetview car earlier this week, were happy to have their houses on national tv. Bizarre.

I can honestly see what people mean though. Legal yes. Intrusive? Well, yes. Anything they can do about it? Yes. So what is the problem?

(Rory Cellan Jones covers the story here on the BBC site, and he was on the reporting on tonight’s news).

You always have the option to remove your house after Streetview has been around. Storm in a tea cup! Why have these people not complained about Google Earth?

Google Earth! Very good point, I think everyone has forgotten about that! :-)
