It’s no secret that Apple are at the top of the pile when it comes to slick, effective marketing. In fact, they are the best. Full stop.

This article on Yahoo! is worth reading and looks at all the aspects of their marketing which entwine to work so effectively. Steve Jobs adds a huge amount to their success by being so charismatic on stage - he oozes presence and the faithful sit with mouths open, credit card waiting to be used to order whatever he launches.
