Must have for Magic Mouse owners
This is a no brainer – free and what Apple should have installed for the Magic Mouse from the word go. You can download it here. Magic Prefs is tiny, uses minimal CPU power (runs in the background) and at last allow you to activate Expose, Dashboard, Spaces with a couple of taps / clicks. Brilliant.

I’ve found my new desk
Firstly, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends. We spent the time with my parents, sister and her boyfriend and with my wonderful partner Kate (emphasis for Mr Lewis) :-p
The woeful BT broadband was a little annoying, but they are pretty remote! I spent a lot of time planning, deciding on 2010 focus and noting down a number of things I really need to do….
One of the projects I’ve put down on the list for early 2010 is to sort out the office, affectionately known as the “command bunker”.
The main objectives are to declutter, get more usable space, better lighting, better filing, and more deskspace. Currently I have an old, rectangular Ikea desk, and this is going to be replaced with a corner one. I also have the old G5 here next the MacPro, so that is going to go downstairs (maybe a nice exhibit for the lounge)
You don’t want to waste such nice design, do you?
Some decent shelves are also needed, so I’m hoping to get some custom fitted by a chap in the village. Not sure what else is really needed, so if you have ay suggestion, do let me know! What do you think is essential for a small home office?
Talking of which, desks and design is a tricky beast. I have not seen many I really like. Until now. Just check this out. Amazing. A perfect match for the Apple gear and lots of features built in. I wonder if it will go into a production!?

Remember to track Santa this year!
“The NORAD Tracks Santa Web site is the newest version of a public relations program by NORAD, the North American Aerospace Defense Command, involving the countries of Canada and the United States. Every year for over fifty years on Christmas Eve, NORAD has put out stories of how their powerful tracking systems, such as the Distant Early Warning Line (DEW Line), had detected Santa Claus leaving the North Pole to deliver his presents to children in North America, and in more recent years, around the world.” (From Wikipedia).
In 2007 good old Google got involved and you can track Santa via Google Earth! The history behind this is interesting – well worth a read.
Saatchi and Saatchi’s Toyota Campaign fail
When a marketing campaign goes pear-shaped, it can be flagged, viewed, commented on and shared in a matter of minutes (the wonders of the internet). I’m sure this is what they had in mind when they started the video competition, except they never envisaged it getting coverage for when it went horribly wrong….
You need to read more here (and it really is worth taking a few minutes to understand this spectacular fail)…. the outcome being this rather controversial video which they approved and went live. Enjoy!
Just say sorry
Very wise words indeed from @jasonfried – written for Seth Godin’s new free ebook – What Matters Now. Don’t miss it, it really is superb.
