Hull Digital Live – meeting Rory Cellan-Jones
I was in London for a couple of days last week, and managed to coordinate a meeting with one of our speakers for the Hull Digital Live conference happening on October 14th.
So, a quick trip on the tube from Chiswick to Ealing Broadway, led to meeting with Rory Cellan-Jones, the BBC’s Technology Correspondent. Rory and I have been in touch for a while now, tweeting, emailing, phonecalls, and we were going to meet last year at FOWA, but Mark Zuckerburg took precedence. (I know, the cheek of it).
It was great to finally meet in person and we spent a very enjoyable hour or so talking about Apple, iPhones, Spinvox, mobile apps, broadband and of course, what he is going to be speaking about at Hull Digital Live!

Snow Leopard arriving on Friday
Well, after much speculation and waiting, we don’t have to wait much longer. Snow Leopard is coming this Friday.
There are many, many improvements, but the focus is on slimming down (smaller, faster install footprint), doing stuff better, and faster, plus optimising OSX for 64 bit machines. Now this is gross over-simplication, and you can see the full list on the Apple site here.
I’m very pleased Snow Leopard is going in this direction – tweaking, accelerating, getting better at things we already love, and decreasing the bloat. Finally, the price. £25. Now that is a feature which is going to be welcomed by many.
