Normal service will be resumed next week. Hope everyone is well, and please let me know what is going on in the world! If Apple has launched any new hardware, email me now!

Fancy setting up a non-Apple router?!

David Pogue has a hilarious write up of trying to set up Netgear’s 802.11n USB adapter onto a brand-new, spotless Lenovo ThinkPad laptop. Chuckle chuckle!

The state of the Blogosphere

April 14, 2007 · Filed Under Life in general · Comment

Great post from Technorati’s Dave Sifry on the what is going on in the blogosphere.

The summary is below:

  • 70 million weblogs
  • About 120,000 new weblogs each day, or…
  • 1.4 new blogs every second
  • 3000-7000 new splogs (fake, or spam blogs) created every day
  • Peak of 11,000 splogs per day last December
  • 1.5 million posts per day, or…
  • 17 posts per second
  • Growing from 35 to 75 million blogs took 320 days
  • 22 blogs among the top 100 blogs among the top 100 sources linked to in Q4 2006 - up from 12 in the prior quarter
  • Japanese the #1 blogging language at 37%
  • English second at 33%
  • Chinese third at 8%
  • Italian fourth at 3%
  • Farsi a newcomer in the top 10 at 1%
  • English the most even in postings around-the-clock
  • Tracking 230 million posts with tags or categories
  • 35% of all February 2007 posts used tags
  • 2.5 million blogs posted at least one tagged post in February

So, anyone saying that blogs are not important is talking total you know what! :-)

Dodgy design from Apple?!

April 14, 2007 · Filed Under Apple stuff · Comment

2110, originally uploaded by magnus*.

Yes, really, It doesn’t happen very often but this is one of those occasions. The MagSafe power supply for MBPs and MBs. The new version with a cuff is on the top and the dodgy old version, which has led to some real problems for people is on the bottom.

A cool courier company

April 14, 2007 · Filed Under Life in general · 2 Comments

Stumbled upon ecourier a few minutes ago and thought that you people out there would like to know about it! Great website, some very cool reviews and schweet features like online tracking :-) Will certainly give them a go when I need something delivering for work.

Old Apple Ads

April 14, 2007 · Filed Under Apple stuff · Comment

the mothership has a great gallery showing a huge range of old Apple / Mac ads, which are fascinating to look at. I love the current stuff, but the older stuff looks pretty bad! I suppose that is looking at it with a pair of eyes in 2007 - it was probably cutting edge then!

It’s nice to hang on to old stuff if you are really into it. I tend to collect magazines which I like - I have every single evo magazine, some up in the loft though! I think I have the orignal Star Wars playing cards somewhere…. could be one for ebay! :-) Anyone else into collecting or hoarding things?

Nearly forgot, I am very anal about keeping boxes and packaging, and funnily enough, especially so for the Apple bits and bobs!

Designing a Logo

April 14, 2007 · Filed Under Life in general · Comment

A logo, your brand, your identity, says a huge amount about what you are, and indeed about your company. Logos, like Apple can be instantly recognisable and can express a huge amount about a company in one small discrete design.
Veerle has a great post on her blog here, about designing her new company logo - interesting and thorough. It’s a great blog and well worth signing up to!

Apple Storetastic on Google Earth

April 14, 2007 · Filed Under Life in general · Comment

If, like me, you like visiting Apple Stores when you go to different places, then this plug in allows you to see all the locations on Google Earth! :-)
I’ve just installed it and it works a treat! Drag the kml file to your places in Google Earth and you can browse stores by country.

Google Buys DoubleClick

April 13, 2007 · Filed Under Life in general · Comment

$3.1 Billion and Google expands its empire. Great move from the Googlers and most importantly for them, stops Microsh*te getting DoubleClick.

It’s been a busy week. Not much Mac time, but fingers crossed will get some decent time tomorrow and will update this. Loads of good stuff to tell you about! :-)
