Holy moley! The dollar is slipping against the pound and is nearly at the £1 = $2 mark

Well worth a flight to the states to stock up on Apple stuff, Tumi luggage and Kiehls! We had $1.89 to the pound when we went to NY in October but this is even better. Hmmm perhaps a ski trip to Heavenly is on the cards…. (I WISH!).

I will say it publicly, my Mum and Dad are the best! They have a great sense of humour, as shown by this excellent joke that they just sent via email
“What Do Retired People Do All Day?
Working people frequently ask retired people what
they do to make their days interesting.
Well, for example, the other day Marilyn and I wentinto town and went into a shop. We were only in there for about 5 minutes. When we came out, there was a cop writing out a parking ticket. We went up to him and said, “Come on man, how about giving a senior citizen a break?” He ignored us and continued writing the ticket. I called him a low life idiot. He glared at me and started writing another ticket for having worn tires. So Marilyn called him a s—head. He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he started writing a third ticket. This went on for about 20 minutes. The more we abused him, the more tickets he wrote.
Personally, we didn’t care. We came into town by bus.
We try to have a little fun each day now that we’re retired. It’s important at our age”.
Wonderful!

Tuesday already….
The week is flying past and I don’t seem to be getting much done. Tarnation! Oh well. I have a few things to write up on here, one is something that I hope will be of interest to the people who, like me, are concerned about home security - I will get this up at the weekend.
We actually had a dusting of snow this morning, so the roads were a tad slippy at 7am when I nipped into work (had to drop something off) and then came back home to be picked up by Lee. We were at East Midlands Airport Thistle hotel for a meeting and if you need a nice, stylish hotel in this neck of the woods…. the Thistle should not be on your list. Not even a reserve list.

There was some BIG traffic during Steve’s Keynote
There were a lot of people wanting information during the keynote, and without a live stream (perhaps the quality could not have been guaranteed), people went to the sites who were live blogging.
The graph below shows the stats and Engadget slaughtered everyone!

Saturday, thank goodness
It’s been a busy week - 3 days at our sales conference, 400 + photos later and a shed load to catch up on. Looks like it’s going to be a BUSY weekend
Now I am sure everyone now knows about the iPhone coming shortly, but how about getting the ringtone now? If you do fancy it, have a look here on Wired’s site - cool!

Do you enjoy going to work in the morning? Is your office a fun place to be? If you can answer yes, it’s likely you’re productive and doing some great work. Unfortunately this is way off the truth for most people. However, if you work for Google, you probably are having fun, delivering the productivity and being valued as an employee. They have just been voted as the number one place to work in the states and you know what, I am sure they are right! Just check out this video….. Pretty amazing eh?
So, employers have a lot to learn. Including mine.

If you have 10 minutes …
Check out Michael Poliza’s photos. The most amazing wildlife shots and also shots of Africa from the air. Truly stunning.

Successful Sponsorship

Seagate has received a HUGE thumbs up from the blogging community at CES. For not a huge amount of money (I’m guessing here), they will have engaged hundreds if not thousands of people, and influential ones at that. Good job!
